Thesis Title: Estimation of breeding values using genome-wide dense marker information in dairy cattle.
About
Dr. Saatchi’s current research projects are to improve the accuracy of predicted genetic and phenotypic merit using high-density genomic information. Generally his work focuses on the design, enhancement, implementation and monitoring of genomic selection programs, primarily in regard to their application to the national improvement of beef cattle, but other species are also considered. These include aspects of genomic prediction based on single markers, DNA haplotypes and individuals DNA sequence information; incorporation of genomic data from genotyping panels of varying SNP density; imputation of missing genotypes; and the joint partitioning of linkage and linkage disequilibrium information.
